At this year’s annual Banquet des anciens élèves on June 9, alumni were welcomed back to TFS to celebrate their significant reunion years. Hosted by Dr. Josep González, Head of School, and Sal Patel ’04, TFSAA President, members of the honoured year classes – 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2012, were delighted to meet Dr. González and reconnect with their former teachers and classmates.
During the evening, Dr. González emphasized the exceptional and unique bond that exists among alumni – life-long friends, unity of shared TFS childhood memories and deep values of respect and integrity. He also recognized recipients of Le prix de distinction des anciens élèves de TFS, Julia Rucklidge ʼ88, a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and Dalton Kellett ʼ11, professional racecar driver, who exemplify TFS’ vision, as individuals and citizens. Dr. González also thanked alumni for their ongoing engagement and positive contribution to the life of the school, which inspires the wider TFS community of students, parents and faculty.
The evening was especially wonderful as alumni and guests enjoyed hearing from Alison Uys, Director of University Relations and a long-standing staff member. Her poignant reflections about the various classes and the legacy of traditions left behind since graduation (Model UN trips, Grad Revue, Dance Show, Level V room, prank day) brought back many fond memories and lots of laughter.
Many thanks to the Alumni of Distinction Committee, Class Reps and volunteers, for their hard work in helping to make this a truly memorable evening. We look forward to next year’s honoured year classes, when they will return home for their reunion.
